Meet the Lil Pumpkins Publishing Team
Submissions Supervisor – Michelle Holland
As submissions come in, Michelle will be the one to review and consider them. While not every submission can be accepted, Michelle will personally review each one as it comes in. Lil Pumpkins Publishing is looking for more than just a story. We are looking for authors whose stories reflect a moral that children can relate to. Michelle is an expert at finding stories that readers are looking for.
If your manuscript is accepted, she will contact you and start the process of turning your idea into a physical book you can hold in your hand!
Events Coordinator – Samantha Daniels
When it’s time to promote your new book, Samantha, our events coordinator, will take charge. Samantha stays up-to-date on all the latest book trends to provide our authors the best possible service. When your book releases, she will organize a Facebook release party and get other authors with similar genre books to attend as guest hosts. Samantha will also focus on bringing in readers to participate in the party. She will be present throughout the party to offer assistance and keep everything moving smoothly, so you can sit back and enjoy your release day!
In addition to events, Samantha is in charge of promoting your work on social media throughout the following 12 months of your release. She will post to the Lil Pumpkins Publishing social media and make sure your promotions are seen weekly in various social media blogs, groups, and more.
Editor – Hollie Westring
Many authors believe that because they’re publishing a children’s book an editor is not important. However, this is a step you do not want to miss, especially with a children’s book. The children reading your book are at a very important developmental stage in their lives, and having a cleanly written book will help with this development.
Hollie is our on-staff editor. She has worked with debut and seasoned authors, self-published scribes, traditionally published novelists, and hybrid wordsmiths. No matter your level of experience, she has you covered. She has edited more than 200 books since 2011, including NYT and USA Today bestsellers.
Illustrator – Suzanna Smith
Suzanna is an award-winning artist and the team’s on-staff illustrator for your children’s book. Suzanna will converse with you, the author, personally via email, to bring your book to life through beautiful illustrations.
You, the author, will receive character sketches, to make sure your vision is coming to life as you dreamed. As pages are designed, you will receive previews of each illustration. This allows you to be part of the process throughout the whole production of your book.
Book Formatters – Suzanna Smith and Sonya Loveday
Having a clean book with beautiful pictures is important when making your story a book. However, without a formatter, it can’t become an “in your hands” book!
We have two book formatters available on staff for your project.
For children’s books, we have Suzanna Smith (also known as Funky Book Designs when formatting). Not only does she illustrate the picture books, but she takes your words and gives them life across the pages. Then she formats the entire story, front to back, making it ready for you to upload and publish.
For chapter books, we have Sonya Loveday. Sonya is a seasoned formatter who will create a beautiful product that you will be proud of. She can incorporate illustrations through the book so they line up beautifully and flawlessly.
Translator – Rosa V. Torres
Many of our authors would like to offer their children’s books in both English and Spanish, as these are the two most common languages spoken and read in the world. Rosa is our on-staff Spanish translator. She does an amazing job taking your English-language children’s book and translating perfectly to Spanish.
This option allows you to open a whole new audience base for your children’s book(s).
