Before the project has even begun, before any documents are signed, you get a mock-up of your main character (usually what the front cover of the book would look like), along with some revisions. If the offered illustrations are on the same page as the author, a contract is lined out with terms.
You are hiring Lil Pumpkins Publishing for a service. That service includes the following:
Proofreading:

✔️Fully illustrated cover for paperback, formatted for print

(A double-page illustration counts as two single-page illustrations)

✔️Complete ownership of images belong to you (We may use a couple in our portfolio)
Formatting:
Your story is artfully put together by our formatting experts, who get it ready for publication.
Your story will be converted to a PDF for full bleed print.
Your book will also be converted into a DOC and a CRTE file to upload for ebook.

Once invoice is paid in full, you will receive (via email):

Like a traditional publisher, we will take your written story and with your direction, we will edit, illustrate, and format it into the picture book you dreamed of. We will provide it (ebook, paperback, hardback, or all three) with ISBNs and Lil Pumpkins Publishing will be listed as the publisher.
However, more like indie publishers, you have the option to keep all the rights to your books and finish the publishing process yourself.
Why does it cost?
Lil Pumpkins Publishing is more of a service than a full-fledged publisher. When you publish with other publishers, they take up to 45% of your profits for fronting the bill for the production of your books. They continue to take that 45% long after the bill is paid. Additionally, they keep control of your books, making decisions that benefit their company instead of you, the author.
With Lil Pumpkins Publishing, you are paying for a service, while keeping 100% of the control. We find out your need, then we give you a quote that includes the ISBNs, editing, illustrations, formatting, and (if you wish) Spanish translation.
Once your book is ready to publish, the files and 100% control of the book are yours. You can then publish to Amazon, IngramSpark, Draft2Digital, or any other preferred retailer.
While Lil Pumpkins is your publisher and helps you bring your book to life, we give all the control to you.
